International captain Nick Price felt sorry for Anirban Lahiri after the Indian's missed short putt in the Presidents Cup possibly cost his team victory.
The United States beat Price's team 15½-14½ in South Korea, but things could have been very different had Lahiri won his match against Chris Kirk.
They were tied going down the last hole, and Lahiri knocked his approach to inside three feet with a birdie seeming almost assured.
But with Kirk making his putt for birdie from 15 feet, the Lahiri putt ended up being for a half and he failed to find the bottom of the cup, meaning a vital point ended up in American hands.
That turnaround, combined with Bill Haas being able to hold off Sang-Moon Bae, meant a victory for Jay Haas' men by a single point but Price was quick to offer comfort to Lahiri.
"I feel so bad for Anirban, as we all do," Price said.
"But you can't look back at one shot on the 18th hole. That's often what happens. You look back, there were mistakes made early on in today's round and yesterday's round and Thursday and Friday.
"We are going to cheer Anirban up. We are going to make sure he goes away from here with a wonderful experience and not let him dwell on what happened today."
Lahiri said: "I would like to rewind and just change the last 10 seconds of it.
"I do feel terrible right now obviously. It's going to be hard for me to sleep tonight, I think. I'm sure the rest of the team is going to help me out.
"I knew that the half point was equally important. The full point would've been I guess game changing, but the half point would've also given us a little more of a chance. These things are scripted I guess, and I wasn't in the script this time."
