George Groves says he will only need six rounds to stop Carl Froch - if he is given a rematch.

"If the rematch happens I will stop Carl Froch in six rounds."

The 26-year-old was halted in the ninth round of their IBF and WBA super-middleweight world title in Manchester last weekend.

Referee Howard Foster's controversial stoppage has left Groves - and plenty of boxing fans - wanting an immediate rematch.

The beaten man has warned he is not going to wait around for another chance but believes he would gain revenge if the pair were to meet again in the ring - and achieve it quicker than Froch finished the first fight.

"If the rematch happens I will stop Carl Froch in six rounds. Adamant," he told skysports.com.

"That's the improvements I have made already, without even stepping back into the gym. These are improvements that will let me know a little bit more about Carl Froch.

"I had made assumptions about Carl Froch through sparring, through watching him through the media and through watching his previous bouts.

"But again that is belief, not knowing. But now l have boxed him for nine rounds and I know a lot more about him. And I would approach it different."

Groves admits he is now ready to put the first fight to bed and is not going to stall his career while he waits to discover if Froch wants a return bout.
