Alex Lynn: Took victory on his GP3 debut
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner was full of praise for Alex Lynn after the Briton took pole position and victory on his GP3 debut in Barcelona on Saturday.
The 20-year-old is a former Formula Renault UK Champion and has progressed through the junior single-seater ranks in recent seasons, finishing third in the FIA European F3 Championship last year which featured some of the best young talent in the world.
Lynn followed it up with victory in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix last November which brought him to the attention of the reigning World Champions.
The Briton was a class apart in the opening GP3 race at the Circuit de Catalunya and it didn't go unnoticed at Red Bull, with their motorsport advisor Helmut Marko amongst the onlookers at the podium.
"Alex is a very promising young talent and a member of the Red Bull Junior Team," Horner said.
"He was selected after his win at Macau last year and obviously in GP3 he has an opportunity this year. It will be interesting to see how he develops throughout the season, but he is a talent that we have identified that deserves an opportunity."
The next GP3 event is Austria on June 20-22 and you can see all the action from qualifying and both races live on Sky Sports F1.
