Sixty three per cent of Sky Sports readers believe Jenson Button will finish higher than his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the 2012 Drivers' Championship.

After races in Australia and Malaysia Hamilton currently sits in second place in the championship with Button five points behind in third.

Although neither McLaren driver has had a brilliant start to the season it still seems as though readers fancy 2009 champion Button over fellow Brit Hamilton.

After a shaky 2011 campaign, Hamilton seems to have overcome the issues that hampered his progress but the fact that Button finished runner-up to Sebastian Vettel in last year's Championship could be the reason why Button is fancied to finish higher.

After his solid yet unspectacular start to the season Hamilton is currently the 13/8 favourite to win the World Championship, although there is still a long way to go.

Hamilton however has been much stronger in qualifying than he has on race day - he has two third placed finishes to his name so far but has started on pole for both.

His team mate and compatriot Button started magnificently in Australia but had somewhat of a nightmare in Malaysia, finishing in 14th position after starting second on the grid.

Although Button struggled in the rain of Malaysia he is still second favourite to win the title and is 9/4 with Sky Bet to be the champion.

In the online betting company's season match bet between the pair, Hamilton is 4/5 to finish on top, with Button 10/11 to end the season as top McLaren driver.

Current Championship leader Fernando Alonso is 10/1 to finish the 2012 season on top after a win in Malaysia and a fifth place finish in Australia with people still believing there are problems with the Ferrari.

Button himself admitted to a bad day at the office in Malaysia but is now focusing on the next race in China on April 15 and is determined to make amends.

Button is 5/2 to win the race in China with McLaren team mate Lewis Hamilton favourite at 2/1.

With two reasonably good performances from Hamilton and a win in Australia for Button, it is no surprise that McLaren are the favourites for the Constructors Championship at 2/5, with struggling Red Bull second favourites at 11/5.

Red Bull have started the 2012 season slowly with no drivers on the podium in Malaysia and reigning champion Sebastian Vettel only managing second in Australia.
