Whitmarsh expects Hamilton stay
Martin Whitmarsh has reiterated his expectation that Lewis Hamilton will stay at McLaren, telling Sky Sports News that he "is sure something will be signed before the end of the summer break".
Hamilton's current deal with the team expires at the end of the season, but following the confirmation that Mark Webber will be remaining at Red Bull for the 2013 campaign, it's widely believed that the 2008 World Champion will opt to stay with the team with whom he has spent the entirety of his motorsport career.
Speaking this week in the Hockenheim paddock, Hamilton described McLaren as his "family" and suggested that driving elsewhere would feel "abnormal". Although formal contract talks are yet to be opened, Whitmarsh now expects negotiations to be successfully concluded before the end of the upcoming mid-season break.
"I'm confident," Whitmarsh assured Sky Sports News. "I've spoken to Lewis and his management team on a few occasions and I'm sure we will get something signed before we come back into the season after the break.
"Lewis is very comfortable in this team."
