Sergey Sirotkin will make his first appearance for Sauber when he completes a demonstration run in Sochi in September.

As part of a deal with new Russian investors, one of whom is Sirotkin's father, the team are to prepare the 17-year-old for an F1 race seat next season.

Sauber have confirmed that the Moscow-born racer had a seat-fitting at their Swiss factory this week ahead of the event at the Black Sea resort, which is scheduled for 27th September.

The city is hoping to host a grand prix in 2014 around their Winter Olympic Park, but missed July's application deadline after a dispute between the Russian Automobile Federation and race promoters.

"My visit to the Sauber F1 Team headquarters was busy," Sirotkin said.

"I learned a lot about the team and many other things. I had a seat fitting, met the engineers and learned about the car and what happens over a race weekend. I also had a lesson with the steering wheel.

"I am happy because, if you had told me six months ago that one day I would visit this workshop and meet this team, I would have never believed you. It's great. The dream is so close to becoming reality now."

Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn was delighted that her team will be the first to run a Russian driver in an F1 car at the new venue.

"We are proud to be doing the demo run next month," she said.

"It will be a historical moment when a Russian driver drives a Formula 1 car for the first time at the track in Sochi."
