Romain Grosjean hoping for dry Day Two at Barcelona to catch up on set-up work

Frenchman admits more wet weather last thing he needs

Romain Grosjean has conceded he isn't as prepared as he would like to be with just one further day of testing in the Lotus E21 before Melbourne.

While the Frenchman completed more mileage than team-mate Kimi Raikkonen across the first two tests thus far, his two appearances at this week's final Barcelona test are both likely to be compromised by rain, with wet weather already intermittently hitting the Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday.

Grosjean spent what time he was on the circuit on Day One (52 laps) testing specific things on the E21 - including the team's drag-reduction system - and didn't set a representative time, duly finishing dead last on the timesheet.

And asked if with just one more day on track before the first grand prix he felt sufficiently prepared, the 26-year-old replied: "Not really.

"We spent quite a lot of time on doing things that was good for the team and the car, but normally the last testing is done for you to work with your engineers on fine-turning with the car to have a baseline set-up for Melbourne.

"And basically with that weather we had today, and tomorrow, this is not possible. So hopefully somehow it's dry tomorrow and we can work on a few things that we want to test and we know we cannot do them on the race weekend."

With Raikkonen set to enjoy the best of the weather across the weekend in Barcelona, Grosjean acknowledged it would be possible to use the Finn's baseline set-up if the worst came the worst for Albert Park - but admitted it wouldn't be the same as finding it out for himself.

"Possibly yes, but it's always better to try to find a little bit your way with your feelings," he continued.

"But luckily with Kimi we are not too far in terms of set-up. We know the off-set from last year so it should be okay. But still when you don't do it yourself it's not the same."

Speaking in a separate press briefing, Lotus's Technical Director James Allison was asked if the team had considered altering its driver schedule for the remainder of the test to all-but ensure Grosjean went to Albert Park with at least one more day of dry running behind him.

Allison, however, stressed that the schedule between the two drivers across all three teams would even itself out.

"We made the allocations some while back and I think they all just accept that there is rough and smooth with that," he explained.

"You look at the amount of miles that Romain's had in the car - he's actually ahead of Kimi as things have worked out - so I think at the end of the testing period it would have worked out pretty much fair for both of them."
