Lotus have announced that Romain Grosjean will be behind the wheel of the E22 when their 2014 car debuts at this week's Bahrain test.

The Frenchman will drive the car, the last of the eleven contenders to be launched for the new F1 season, on the opening two days of the four-day event which starts on Wednesday.

Grosjean's newly-appointed team-mate Pastor Maldonado will then take over driving duties for the final two days, Friday and Saturday.

Despite finishing fourth in the Constructors' Championship last year, the Enstone-based outfit have endured a troubled few months amid ongoing financial concerns.

The cash-strapped outfit were the only F1 team not to run at the Jerez test and have recently suffered the considerable blow of losing their Team Principal, Eric Boullier, to McLaren.

They did, however, run the E22 for the first time a week ago at a behind-closed-doors filming event at Jerez having previously offered a sneak-preview of their car which revealed a striking - and hitherto unique amongst the 2014 chargers - two-pronged nose.
