Xevi Pujolar: Will become Williams Chief Race Engineer

Xevi Pujolar will take up the newly created position of Chief Race Engineer at Williams as part of a rejig of their senior race operations line-up.

Testing on Sky Sports

From dawn to dusk, Sky Sports Online will be providing live interactive commentary from trackside at both Jerez and Barcelona on every day of testing this winter, while Sky Sports News will be providing regular live updates from the tests, starting with Jerez on February 5-8.

A round-up show featuring the day's interviews from Jerez will go out at 9pm each evening of the test on Sky Sports F1.

Pujolar joined Williams in 2003 and after spending a season as Senior Race Engineer at HRT, he returned to Williams in 2011 as Pastor Maldonado's Race Engineer. His new role will see him overseeing all aspects of race car performance within trackside operations.

Performance Engineer Andrew Murdoch will take over from Pujolar as Maldonado's Race Engineer having worked on the car during the 2012 season.

Jonathan Eddolls will be responsible for the sister car of Valtteri Bottas - a role he held during the Finn's first practice outings last year. Eddolls joined the team in 2003 as part of Williams' graduate training programme and has risen through the company over the past 10 years.

Technical Director Mike Couglan has welcomed the revamp and hopes the changes will see the team move further up the grid this season.

''2013 will be an important year for Williams and I'm pleased to announce a refreshed technical team that has the talent to help move us further up the grid," the 53-year-old said.

"Xevi has proven himself to be a highly capable and experienced race engineer and his promotion to Chief Race Engineer was a natural progression.

"Jonathan and Andrew have been key members of our race operations team for a number of years and this experience will prove valuable as they step up to Race Engineer. We made good progress in 2012 and will be looking to achieve further success in 2013.''
