This Week on Sky Sports

Last Updated: 14/03/13 11:05am

A thrilling weekend of Premier League action awaits as Everton host the Champions on Saturday, plus we have a tasty Super Sunday double header featuring Sunderland v Norwich and Wigan v Newcastle.

Everton v Manchester City

Saturday 16th March Sky Sports 2HD, Sky Go Kick-Off: 12:45pm Coverage Starts: 12:00pm

With the defending champions seeing the Barclays Premier League crown slip slowly through their clutches, Everton have the chance to all but end Manchester City's dream of retaining their title at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have every reason to believe that they can deal another crushing blow to Roberto Mancini and his travelling troops, with David Moyes' men having emerged victorious in each of the last three top-flight meetings between the two sides at Merseyside - and six of the last eight.

City have to address their struggles against their North West rivals if they are to keep table-topping Manchester United on their toes, but with Everton still chasing a top-five finish and a place in Europe, it could be another testing afternoon for the visitors.

Sunderland v Norwich City

Sunday 17th March, Sky Sports 1HD, Sky Go Kick-Off: 1:30pm Coverage Starts: 1:00pm

Sunderland and Norwich will feel that they have spent too much of the season looking anxiously over their shoulder and will want to ease any lingering doubts regarding their Premier League status.

The Canaries emerged victorious in the reverse fixture between the two sides back in early December, but history suggests that they do not enjoy trips to Wearside - with the Black Cats having taken maximum points from their last four meetings at the Stadium of Light.

Should that trend continue, the North East natives will feel that they can rest a little easier, while Chris Hughton will be forced back to the drawing board during a crucial run of fixtures for his troops.

Wigan Athletic v Newcastle United

Sunday 17th March, Sky Sports 1HD, 3D and Sky Go Kick-Off: 4:00pm Coverage Starts: 3:30pm

We have reached the stage of the season when Wigan tend to spark into life, and they will feel that a home date with Newcastle provides another opportunity to build momentum and edge towards Barclays Premier League survival.

A 4-0 thumping of the Magpies in April 2012 helped the Latics to pull off a miraculous escape act last term, and they have fared admirably against the North East outfit at the DW Stadium in recent times - winning six of the last seven meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

Newcastle did, however, run out comfortable 3-0 winners over Wigan earlier in the season and Alan Pardew will be demanding that his side end the campaign with a flourish, having disappointed for long periods.
