Arsenal v Liverpool

Last Updated: 23/01/13 10:31am

Two of English football's most successful teams will again come into focus on Wednesday 30, January when Liverpool travel to Arsenal in one of the Premier League's heavyweight contests.

Historically, there has been a mutual respect between the rivals from Merseyside and London but that will go out the window at the Emirates Stadium.

Still reeling from a 2-0 defeat at Anfield in September, when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla both scored their first Arsenal goals, Liverpool will be out for revenge.

Arsene Wenger's side's win was their first of the season after having drawn a blank in their opening two games, but, like their weekend visitors, they have remained frustratingly inconsistent.

A positive run of results in December eased some of the burden on the Gunners boss but Arsenal fans are still restless, particularly given their club's transfer window poker face.

Similarly, Liverpool have seemed to take two steps forward and one step back in what has been slow progress under boss Brendan Rodgers and win's against any team in the top-half of the table so far proving to be beyond them.

Add to this the rich history which runs through fixtures between these two clubs it promises to be another delicately poised encounter. It looks set to be another unmissable contest between two of England's biggest clubs.
