Walsall v Middlesbrough preview

Team news for Tuesday night's Carling Cup first-round clash between Walsall and Middlesbrough.

Walsall will be at full strength for the game. The Saddlers suffered no fresh injury concerns following Saturday's opening-day 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient at the Banks's Stadium. Summer signings Mat Sadler, Claude Gnakpa, Kevan Hurst and Adam Chambers all made their debuts against the Os, with the latter netting the winner against his former club. Fellow additions David Grof, Anton Peterlin and Ryan Jarvis all found themselves on the bench, with Lee Beevers the only new face not to earn a place among the Saddlers' matchday 16. But with boss Dean Smith able to name seven substitutes in the Carling Cup there is a strong chance all could find themselves involved in some capacity against Championship Boro. Young midfielder Jake Jones was the only man unavailable at the weekend and he will be hoping to have shaken off an ankle injury in time to claim a place in Smith's 18-man squad. Middlesbrough will be without Scott McDonald, Rhys Williams, Barry Robson and Tarmo Kink. McDonald and Williams both scored in Boro's 2-2 draw with Portsmouth at the weekend, Scotland midfielder Robson started and Estonian striker Kink was on the bench, but all four are on international duty. Tony Mowbray will also be without on-loan Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who has been refused permission to play, so Danny Coyne should return to the starting line-up. But Mowbray will be able to call on Merouane Zemmama. The Moroccan was left out of the starting line-up on Saturday as he is observing Ramadan. Defender Seb Hines and midfielders Richard Smallwood and Malaury Martin were unused substitutes on Saturday and could also feature at the Bescot Stadium.
