Image: Cuvelier: Fit for the Saddlers

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Walsall and Doncaster at the Banks's Stadium.

Walsall have a fully-fit squad to select from. Midfielder Florent Cuvelier and striker Will Grigg have returned unscathed from midweek international duty with Belgium's Under-21 side and Northern Ireland's senior squad respectively. It means manager Dean Smith has a full compliment of players to select from as Walsall aim to start their league campaign on the right note. Confidence will be high in the Saddlers ranks following last weekend's 1-0 Capital One Cup triumph over Brentford, a result which saw the Midlands club progress into the second round of the competition for the first time in six years. Ashley Hemmings bagged the only goal of the game and will be hoping to continue where he left off against a Rovers side relegated from the Championship last term. New signings Billy Paynter and Jamie McCombe will go straight into the Doncaster squad. Striker Paynter joined the club from Leeds on Wednesday, 24 hours after free agent McCombe. The duo's arrival took manager Dean Saunders' summer acquisitions up to seven - following defenders Rob Jones and Paul Quinn, midfielders David Syers and David Cotterill and forward Robbie Blake to the Keepmoat Stadium, all of whom made their debuts in the penalty shoot-out win over York in the Capital One Cup last Saturday. Saunders will have everyone fit for the trip to the West Midlands apart from long-term absentees Neil Sullivan and Shelton Martis. The Rovers boss has confirmed that Gary Woods will begin the season in goal but he has not ruled out signing another goalkeeper. With Sullivan (thumb) out, Saunders has just Woods and rookie Jonathan Maxted available for selection. "I am assessing the goalkeeping department. In fact, I am looking at all positions and if I can improve any of them I will as I want competition for places all over," said Saunders. "We have got 17 players at the moment and we are going to get injuries and suspensions. We still won't be able to fill the bench on Saturday so we are hoping to recruit a couple more players as we are short. "Gary [Woods] is going to start the season so he has got the first bite of the cherry. He has got the shirt and if he plays well then he will stay in."
