Baggies could be freshened up, Byrne out for Iron

Tony Mowbray is contemplating changes to his West Brom side, while Scunthorpe United are without Cliff Byrne. The Baggies went top of the table with a 4-1 win over Bristol City on Boxing Day, but Mowbray may freshen up his team. James Morrison came through 80 minutes against the Robins after a knee injury and could feature again. Kevin Phillips marked his first start in seven weeks with two goals on Boxing Day and is likely to keep his place as Ishmael Miller comes in for Roman Bednar. Defenders Leon Barnett and Martin Albrechtsen are also likely to feature, while midfielders Chris Brunt and Filipe Teixeira if Mowbray makes any further changes.

Scunthorpe news

The Iron had Byrne sent off in Boxing Day's win at Preston for picking up two yellow cards and he is banned for Saturday's game. The Irish full-back was making his first appearance in seven weeks after being sidelined with a broken bone in his foot. Fellow defender Kelly Youga is available again after a four-game ban and is likely to be a straight replacement for Byrne. Centre-half Izzy Iriekpen remains sidelined and will be out for a further two months after undergoing knee surgery. Nigel Adkins has no other new injury problems and is not expected to make any other changes after the win at Preston.
