West Brom v Chelsea preview

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their Euro disappointment when they travel to in-form West Brom.

Baggies hoping to avoid repeat of Stamford Bridge humiliation

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their UEFA Champions League disappointment when they travel to in-form West Brom on Saturday. Carlo Ancelotti's men were dumped out of the tournament by Manchester United at Old Trafford in midweek to end their well-documented dream of European glory. The Blues' one remaining chance of silverware now lies in the Premier League, and their hopes of defending the title are slim, with leaders United a towering 11 points ahead in the table. Chelsea currently sit third with seven games remaining, and they must keep the threat of Manchester City and Tottenham at bay if they want to book an automatic qualification spot for next year's continental competition. Under-pressure Ancelotti is also facing a selection headache up front after his gamble of starting £50million man Fernando Torres in midweek failed to pay off, with the misfiring striker benched at half-time at Old Trafford for Didier Drogba having still not broken his 11-game goal duck for the Blues. The reverse fixture on the opening day of the season saw Ancelotti's side storm to victory, hitting the Baggies for six at Stamford Bridge in an emphatic start to the campaign. But the West Londoners are likely to face a tougher task at the Hawthorns this weekend, with Roy Hodgson's men now unbeaten in seven games after a recent revival. That run also included three crucial wins, which have handed the 10th-placed Baggies a timely boost as they edge closer to top-flight survival, with seven points now between them and the drop zone.

Team news

Roy Hodgson has an almost full strength line-up for Saturday's clash, with only defender Pablo Ibanez ruled out for the encounter. Midfielder Graham Dorrans is a doubt as he continues to recover from an ankle injury, but could be available if he wins his fitness race. Chelsea will be without Ramires and Alex for the trip to the Hawthorns after both Brazilians picked up muscle strains. The duo are expected to be back in contention against Birmingham on Wednesday. Star signing David Luiz, who was cup-tied in midweek, is likely to start at centre-half as he returns to the fold.
