Valencia got their bid for Champions League football back on track with a 4-0 demolition of relegation-battling Granada on Monday night.

Valencia went into the match having won just one of their last four league games, while seeing their 10-match unbeaten run ended by Barcelona last week.

But that was all forgotten as goals from Javi Fuego, Daniel Parejo, Sofiane Feghouli and Alvaro Negredo saw Granada swept aside.

The win sees Valencia move back above Sevilla into fourth place, two points clear, while Granada remain six points adrift of safety in 19th place.

The match was slow to get started with Valencia not offering so much of a hint of a threat until the 14th minute, when Rodrigo was offside trying to reach Andres Gomes' through ball.

Three minutes later, Rodrigo headed wide from Parejo's free-kick, but it was not until the 21st minute that Roberto was called into action, denying Andres Gomes from outside the area.

Parejo then headed over as Valencia continued to attack, and they got their reward when Fuego made the breakthrough in the 26th minute, heading home Parejo's corner.

Feghouli and Jose Gaya quickly had chances to double the lead but neither could find the target.

Instead, they got a helping hand from Granada five minutes before the break when Diego Mainz felled Antonio Barragan in the area, and Parejo scored from the spot.

Granada had barely been seen as an attacking force, and did not have a shot on goal until the 51st minute, when Piti sent a free-kick over.

It was the start of the visitors' best spell, with Fran Rico going close with a free-kick before Rico's shot was blocked.

Valencia responded as Rodrigo forced a save but Granada went close again through Piti and Isaac Success.

However, with five minutes left, Feghouli killed off the visitors, shooting high into the goal to cap a swift counter-attack.

Three minutes later, they added an exclamation mark as Negredo headed home Rodrigo de Paul's cross.
