Tranmere v Hereford preview

Tranmere will assess two midfielders ahead of the game against a Hereford side beset by injuries.

Rovers to check on duo, problems continue for Bulls

Tranmere Rovers will assess the fitness of two midfielders ahead of the game against a Hereford United side beset by injury problems. Charlie Barnett and Steve Jennings are both doubts for Rovers after picking up knocks in Saturday's win at Walsall. Barnett was forced off with an injury midway through the second half, while Jennings was replaced inside the final 10 minutes. Striker Craig Curran, Barnett's replacement against the Saddlers, could push for a starting berth. Curran is close to regaining full fitness and sharpness following a six-month lay-off with back and stomach problems. Defenders Andy Taylor and Gareth Edds are amongst those players who will be hoping for recalls, but Chris Greenacre and Chris Shuker will remain sidelined. Striker Greenacre had been out since December with a foot injury but recently sustained medial ligament damage and is set to remain sidelined for another week at least. Winger Shuker will not play again this season as he recovers from a broken arm.

Hereford news

Relegation-haunted Hereford remain without a host of players for their trip to Prenton Park. The Bulls suffered no new injury or suspension problems during Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to league leaders Leicester, but the quick turnaround of the Easter schedule means that United's walking wounded have had no time to recover. Defenders Dean Beckwith (knee), Josh Gowling (ankle) and Darren Dennehy (glandular fever) continue to miss out along with midfielder Jack MacLeod and goalkeeper Craig Samson (groin). Peter Gulacsi will continue in Samson's absence. Matt Done and Simon Johnson could be in line for recalls after substitute appearances against the Foxes. Graham Turner's side could lose their League One status if they fail to win and results involving Crewe and Carlisle do not go their way.
