Shrewsbury v Crewe preview

Team news for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round tie between Shrewsbury and Crewe at Greenhous Meadow (kick-off 7.15pm).

Terry Gornell will miss Shrewsbury's home clash although Town are unsure how long the striker faces on the sidelines. Gornell was forced off with a knee injury just 31 minutes into Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Doncaster, meaning he will miss the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with a place in the area quarter-finals at stake. Manager Graham Turner told the club's official website: "We are not quite sure how long Terry will be out of action but to come off so early in the game would indicate that it is quite serious. "We would hope that it will only be a week or so but won't really know for a couple of days." Gornell's absence comes with on-loan forward Sam Winnall already missing with a minor hamstring tear which is likely to keep him out for around another 10 days or so. Left-back Joe Jacobson is set to return at around the same time having made a quicker than expected recovery from his ankle injury. Crewe expect Ajay Leitch-Smith to be fit. Alex forward Leitch-Smith picked up a dead-leg against Hartlepool on Saturday and made way in stoppage time for Adam Dugdale as Steve Davis' men closed out a 2-1 win - their first victory in seven outings. Davis' squad is moving back towards full strength, although a quartet of absentees will not be risked. Midfielder Abdul Osman and winger Byron Moore are recovering well from ankle injuries and are targeting this weekend's forthcoming League One trip to Portsmouth, which could also mark a return to action for striker Michael West (Achilles) and goalkeeper Steve Phillips (knee). Teenage winger Ryan Colclough remains on the sidelines with a broken jaw.
