Plymouth caretaker manager Tim Breacker was delighted with the way his players applied themselves in a 1-0 win at Sheffield United.
At the end of a turbulent week, during which Argyle boss Ian Holloway quit to take over at Leicester, Peter Halmosi's first-half strike was enough to give Plymouth all three points.
The Hungary international held his nerve after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake had played him through one-on-one with goalkeeper Ian Bennett to convert into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
The win lifts Plymouth into the play-off places, while United's steady climb up the table was checked by their first league defeat in seven matches.

Breacker said: "All we concentrated on was our previous form and what we've done in recent weeks. It was a fantastic result.
"We had a few one-on-one's and hit the woodwork, but you'll settle for 1-0 with that performance any day of the week."
With a new manager set to take charge, Breacker - who was previously Holloway's assistant - acknowledges he could be poised to leave the club.
"I might not see the players when they train on Monday," he added.
Sheffield United boss
Bryan Robson blamed his side's poor start for failing to take anything of note from the game.
"There are no excuses," he said. "It was the way we started.
"You can't start at half pace and think you can take it up. There was no urgency or desire from us for the first 25 minutes.
"It is the most disappointing performance since I've been here."
