Levein's men looking to establish momentum at Hampden

Scotland will face a tough test against in-form Denmark when they meet in a friendly at Hampden Park, in a game which can be seen live on Sky Sports HD2. Craig Levein's men are gearing up for the resumption of Euro 2012 qualifying duty in September, with the Czech Republic set to provide their next competitive opposition. It is important that momentum is established heading into that game, as the Scots have struggled to get going in Group I. Any hopes they have of reaching next summer's European Championships will rest on their ability to start grinding out results. They will hope that the first of those will come against the Danes, who have impressed during their own qualification campaign. Three victories have been picked up in their five games so far and they currently sit joint-top of Group H alongside Portugal and Norway. They too have crucial games coming up on the road to Ukraine and Poland and will feel that victory on Scottish soil will set them up nicely. Those preparing to make their way to Hampden on Wednesday should expect to see a result, as none of the 14 previous meetings between Scotland and Denmark have produced a draw.

Snodgrass starts

Levein has confirmed that Robert Snodgrass will make his first start for Scotland in midweek. The Leeds winger and Liverpool defender Danny Wilson have both been named in the starting XI. Snodgrass is one of several attack-minded midfielders in the team alongside Steven Naismith and James Morrison. Allan McGregor continues in goal while Phil Bardsley starts at right-back after Steven Whittaker and Alan Hutton pulled out injured. Blackpool's Stephen Crainey starts at left-back and Wilson partners Gary Caldwell in the centre. Scott Brown and Charlie Adam complete the midfield quintet while captain Kenny Miller will play up front on his own. Snodgrass has made two substitute appearances, against Northern Ireland and Brazil earlier this year. The 23-year-old former Livingston player missed the Carling Nations Cup games against Wales and the Republic of Ireland in May through injury. Wilson, 19, also came on against Northern Ireland and Brazil and won the first of his three caps when he started - and scored - in a 3-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands last year. As well as Whittaker and Hutton, Levein also lost Kris Commons to injury. Commons reported for duty on Tuesday wearing a protective boot on a bruised foot before returning to Celtic's Lennoxtown training base for further treatment.
Familiar faces
Denmark are expected to include a number of familiar faces in their side. Nicklas Bendtner is pushing for a move away from Arsenal and an eye-catching showing on Wednesday could help him to get his wish. Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen is another Premier League performer currently weighing up his options, after falling out of favour with the Potters, but he remains his country's number one. Should former Charlton winger Dennis Rommedahl earn his 109th cap in midweek, he will move above Thomas Helveg and into third on Denmark's all-time appearance list.
