Rangers dominated both possession and chances throughout, but fell behind when Cummings found space just inside the six-yard box before coolly lifting the ball over lunging keeper Wesley Foderingham on 23 minutes.

But 10 minutes later, Rangers were level following an error by Fyvie who conceded possession 40 yards from goal as Waghorn fed Holt, who clinically dispatched a low shot past Mark Oxley from the edge of the box.

Halliday and Barrie McKay went close shortly afterwards and Rangers were soon celebrating a second goal in the 42nd minute as McKay slipped the ball to Holt whose 12-yard shot took a sizeable deflection off the foot of defender Paul Hanlon.

Kenny Miller should have extended Rangers' lead on the hour mark when he curled his chance over the bar after being set up by the lively McKay.

The decisive third goal arrived five minutes later when substitute Dean Shiels chipped the ball to Clark who calmly converted from 10 yards.

Clark almost added another shortly afterwards before Rangers were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute as Halliday clashed with Fyvie and was shown a red card.

Cummings lobbed over 13 minutes from time as Hibs tried to get back into the game and the Edinburgh side were rewarded on 86 minutes when Malonga bravely stooped to head home Fyvie's hanging cross into the box.

But before Hibs could chase an equaliser Rangers broke away to seal three points with Waghorn taking advantage of some sloppy defending to score his side's fourth goal from close range.

The victory takes the Gers three points clear and ends Hibernian's unbeaten run in the league dating back to August.
