Lens nets late equaliser for Dutch side

Jeremain Lens' 80th-minute equaliser earned PSV Eindhoven a Europa League draw at home to AIK. The Eredivisie outfit looked to be heading to a surprise home defeat as they trailed to a Kwame Karikari effort after 60 minutes and struggled to create any clear-cut chances to level. But Lens spared their blushes with a sharp finish and even sent them up to second in the Group F table. The victory moved PSV a point ahead of Napoli, who were beaten away to runaway leaders Dnipro. The Swedish side came flying out of the blocks and were within a whisker of taking the lead after only four minutes. Celso Borges' outswinging corner from the right fell to Nils-Eric Johansson six yards out, but his shot came back off a post. At the other end Dries Mertens fired over and Kevin Strootman sent an effort wide following a Mertens corner. Another Mertens corner then picked out Timothy Derijck, whose header dropped wide of the right post. But the visitors went ahead on the hour mark as Karikari finished into the bottom-left corner from inside the area. The Dutch side levelled 10 minutes from time. The influential Mertens was predictably at the heart of it, laying a pass inside from the right for Lens to fire high into the net. Strootman and Derijck headed over as PSV sought an unlikely victory, but they had to settle for a point.
