Plymouth v Wolves preview

Simon Walton will start Plymouth's opener against Wolves, who could hand debuts to four players.

Debuts aplenty at Home Park

Record signing Simon Walton will start Plymouth's Championship opener against Wolves, who could hand debuts to four players. Walton joined Plymouth from Queens Park Rangers earlier in the week and Paul Sturrock says the midfielder will be in his starting line-up. Sturrock was less forthcoming about his other starters - including the goalkeeping position, with Romain Larrieu and summer signing Graham Stack battling for the role. The Argyle boss has fellow new boys David McNamee, Karl Duguid and Jason Puncheon in contention, but revealed that two unnamed key players would require late fitness tests before he selected his starting XI.

Wolves news

Wolves head to Home Park with Sam Vokes, Richard Stearman, David Jones and Chris Iwelumo all looking to make their debuts for the club. Boss Mick McCarthy is giving nothing away regarding his starting line-up as the club embark on their latest promotion bid after narrowly missing out on the play-off places last season. Jody Craddock and Karl Henry are vying for the captain's armband vacated by Gary Breen as McCarthy makes his final decision before the game. He told the club's official website: "There are two guys in the frame, although it depends on who is playing of course."
