Atalanta overcame the dismissal of Federico Peluso to draw 0-0 with Pescara at the Stadio Adriatico. In fact it was the visitors who came closest to scoring in a lively match when Davide Brivio struck the post midway through the second half. The result leaves Serie A newcomers Pescara a point behind their opponents in the standings, although they did manage to halt a run of back-to-back defeats. The home side began the day just one place off the foot of the table but gave Atalanta something to think about in the fourth minute with an effort from Juan Quintero which flew over the crossbar from 20 yards. The Bergamo club responded with a chance of their four minutes later, although Ezequiel Schelotto failed to get enough power behind his shot, allowing Mattia Perin to make an easy save. Atalanta produced something better after 13 minutes with Maximiliano Moralez delivering a cross into the area which was headed narrowly wide by Giacomo Buonaventura. Buonaventura tried his luck again on the half-hour mark with a powerful drive from outside of the area, but Perin palmed the ball away from the top corner. Pescara's defence had done most of the work in the first half, but Quintero tried to change that with a long-range shot which warmed the hands of visiting goalkeeper Andrea Consigli. Atalanta's afternoon then suffered a setback two minutes after the interval when Peluso was given his marching orders for a second yellow card in as many minutes. And Pescara almost made their man advantage count immediately with Quintero's strike missing the left post by inches. The visitors coped well in Peluso's absence and produced the best chance of the match after 67 minutes with a stunning volley from Brivio which deserved a better ending than hitting the woodwork. Pescara piled on the pressure as the clock ticked down but the Delfini were unable to produce a goal for their efforts, with Quintero curling a free-kick past the post and Consigli denying Elvis Abbruscato from close range two minutes from time.
