Parma and Cagliari played out a goalless draw on Sunday as the Sardinians' long wait for an away win goes on. In a match with plenty of chances but no goals, Cagliari had their fair share of opportunities to end a winless away run which dates back to February 17. The result extends Parma's unbeaten league run to five matches, but if Roberto Donadoni felt his side threw away two points in their 3-3 draw with Inter Milan last time out, he may well feel the same about this one given the number of openings they had after the break. However, it was Cagliari who dominated the early going. Albin Ekdal headed wide from a free-kick in the fourth minute before Marco Sau turned another effort left of the post from Daniele Dessena's corner. Ekdal lined up a free-kick in the 27th minute but blazed over before Dessena brought a save from Antonio Mirante with a close-range effort. Parma had to wait until the 37th minute for a sight of goal but Massimo Gobbi wasted it firing wide. Mirante then denied Sau, but the final chance of the first half belonged to Parma's Jonathan Biabiany who headed wide. That was a sign of things to come as Parma bossed the second half, even if the accuracy of their finishing did not improve. Gobbi fired wide before Antonio Cassano sent a free-kick high over the crossbar. At the other end, Anderson Nene's long-range effort was narrowly wide but Parma were soon in the ascendency again, with Biabiany shooting over and Afriye Acquah narrowly off target moments later. As time ticked down, Amauri headed narrowly wide for the hosts and then, deep in stoppage time, Nene blazed wildly over when given a chance to nick it.
