Simon Heslop fired in a stunning long-range goal as Oxford ran out 2-0 winners at home to Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.
The former Barnsley midfielder turned and shot in one movement from 30 yards, driving the ball over Shrews keeper Ben Smith and into the net for a spectacular eighth-minute opener in Tuesday night's League Two clash at the Kassam Stadium. On-loan Milton Keynes striker Lewis Guy added a second for Oxford seven minutes into the second half. James Constable might have shot from the left edge of the box, but instead selflessly squared it for Guy to slot in. Shrewsbury offered surprisingly little, seldom troubling a U's defence superbly marshalled by Michael Duberry. Their best effort was a side-footed shot from 18 yards by Nicky Wroe that goalkeeper Ryan Clarke spilled, before it was hacked away for a corner.
