Atkinson praise for debutants

Accrington defender Rob Atkinson has praised new loan signings John O'Sullivan and Sean Maguire for making an immediate impact.

Blackburn midfielder O'Sullivan, 21, bagged a brace and 20-year-old West Ham forward Maguire also netted in Saturday's 5-4 win at Northampton in John Coleman's first match back in charge. Atkinson hit the target with a rare double himself and said: "Northampton is always a difficult place to come to, but I thought the new lads that have come in did tremendously well and there's going to be real competition for places now. "I was really impressed with them. They looked lively and added a real spark back into the side. We'd only seen them for one training session on Friday, but now we've seen how good they are and they'll definitely be a great addition to the squad. "It's a great result for the lads, a good start for the new management and hopefully we can kick on. That's nine points from the last 12 available, so hopefully we can get on a little run and climb the table."
