Ormerod ponders Stanley return

Former Blackpool striker Brett Ormerod is mulling over a return to Accrington, James Beattie has confirmed.

Ormerod, 37, last played for Stanley in 1997 and, following stints across multiple divisions with the likes of Blackpool, Southampton and Wrexham, the free agent could now be going back to east Lancashire. He came on as a substitute in Accrington's 2-0 pre-season win over Chorley at the weekend and Beattie has put the ball in his former Southampton team-mate's court. "I've spoken to Brett, I've spoken to him about an offer," Beattie revealed to the club's official website. "I've skirted around the idea of offering him something. I think we're in a position now where we can do that. But it will be up to Brett and his family now to make that decision. Whether he accepts it or not...we'd love to have him here. "He's great around the dressing room, he's very experienced and he's definitely got something left to offer on that green stuff outside. But it's got to be right for him and his family."
