Newcastle striker Xisco has insisted he has not given up on his career on Tyneside and will fight for his place.
The Spaniard arrived at St James' Park in a move hit by controversy due to a wrangle over transfer power between former manager Kevin Keegan and members of chairman Mike Ashley's board.
Keegan claimed he had no say in the £5.7million move for the player from Deportivo in the summer of 2008, and this was believed to be one of several factors in his decision to resign just weeks later.
The 24-year-old never got going at the Magpies, scoring just one goal in seven appearances and was loaned out to Racing Santander for all of last season.
However, he has been given the chance by current boss Chris Hughton to make a success of his Newcastle career, and insisted he would take his chance this time.
"I'm happy to be back - I've got three years on my contract here and I'm looking forward to them.

"When I came to Newcastle United it was a big opportunity for me in my career," he told
The Chronicle.
"Last season I was on loan in Spain because I needed to go back home for a year because of what was happening here (in Newcastle).
"Now I'm back and happy. I'm very hopeful of staying at Newcastle and helping the team do whatever I can."
The player was given an unfamiliar role on the right-hand side of midfield by Hughton in the club's first pre-season friendly against Norwich, but he managed to repay his manager's decision by setting up Shola Ameobi for a goal.
Xisco insisted that he was not bothered by which role he played, as long as he was contributing to the team.
"If I have to play in other positions for the team, then I will. If the manager wants me to play on the left or the right, I can.
"All you have to do is do the best for the team."
