Polak earns second chance at Wolfsburg

Hannover general manager Jorg Schmadtke has played down his club's chances of landing Wolfsburg striker Srdan Lakic during January. The 28-year-old Croatian is not a first-team regular at Volkswagen Arena despite only arriving in the summer and he has played just 10 Bundesliga matches this season. It has been reported Lakic is willing to accept a pay cut in order to move elsewhere and improve his chances of playing and therefore boost his hopes of earning a place in his nation's Euro 2012 squad. But Schmadtke does not think the former Kaiserslautern player will be moving to Hannover, as he told BILD: "Honestly, I do not see us having any good chance to do something like this." Another out-of-favour Wolfsburg player, Jan Polak, could be set to receive a second chance at the club just a month after being told by boss Felix Magath that he had no future. Magath told Deutsche Pressagentur: "After I told him my decision, he has never let things slip. "He acted in a professional manner and did well in training. That is why he deserved to be considered for a fresh chance."
