Keane set for hernia surgery

Preston North End's Keith Keane could have his season cut short by hernia surgery.

Keane, 26, has starred for North End since switching from right-back to midfield amid the hectic Easter fixture list and was named man of the match during Saturday's 3-0 triumph over Scunthorpe. But the player left the action early due to his hernia complaint and Lilywhites boss Simon Grayson views surgery in the immediate future as inevitable. "Keith has been struggling with a hernia problem for the last couple of weeks, more so in the latter parts of games," said Grayson in the Lancashire Evening Post. "That is why he came off on Saturday and he will probably go in for an operation sooner rather than later. "He was rightly named man of the match. He worked hard, broke things up and kept it simple."
