Dickov hails form of Simpson

Oldham manager Paul Dickov has urged forward Robbie Simpson to carry a selfish streak into the upcoming League One campaign.

Simpson opened the scoring in Tuesday night's 2-1 friendly victory over Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City, his fourth goal of a fruitful pre-season programme, with a clinical fourth-minute strike. Dickov believes this latest demonstration of the 27-year-old's finishing ability lends further weight to the argument that more of his work should take place inside the opposition penalty area. "We're constantly on at Robbie to get in the box and I believe he'll score a lot of goals this year," said the Latics boss. "He's only going to do that if he's in the box. We know what he can do outside the box with his hold-up play, creating chances for others. "But he's the best finisher at the club so let's get him in the box where he can score."
