Uruguay striker Diego Forlan should be available for their World Cup Group D opener against Costa Rica on Saturday after recovering from a stomach bug.
The former Manchester United star, who now plays for Cerezo Osaka in Japan, was forced to sit out the squad’s training session on Wednesday with an upset stomach.
However, the 35-year-old, who was voted the best player at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, joined his team-mates in Thursday's practice session at Uruguay's base camp in Sete Lagoas, near Belo Horizonte.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez also returned to training for the first time since undergoing a knee operation on May 21.
Suarez, who scored 31 goals for the Reds in the Premier League last season, is gradually building up his fitness following his lay-off.
"I couldn't say when we will be able to have Suarez available," Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez said earlier this week.
"We have our expectations but until we do more tests, he will not play."
Suarez is unlikely to play against Costa Rica but he could be available for the game against England on June 19 in Sao Paulo.
