Napoli missed the chance to return to the top of Serie A after a shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Parma.
Inter Milan's dismal start to the season continued as they were beaten at Catania to remain just above the bottom three while neighbours AC Milan defeated Palermo with a much-needed home win.
Napoli were humbled at home as
Parma triumphed 2-1 in the Stadio San Paolo.
The visitors took a shock lead just before the hour make through Massimo Gobbi but the hosts hit back after 71 minutes thanks to experienced striker Giuseppe Mascara.
However, Parma won the game with a goal seven minutes from the end through Francesco Modesto.
Loss
Just two weeks after going down 3-0 at home to Napoli, Claudio Ranieri's
Inter Milan side lost again, this time to
Catania despite taking a sixth-minute lead through Esteban Cambiasso.
Sergio Almiron and a Francesco Lodi penalty turned the game around in the second half, as the Sicilians took a deserved three points to leave the Nerazzurri five points behind them in the table after six games of the season.
It means Inter have won just two games in nine matches in all competitions this season, including August's Italian Supercup, having lost six of those.
AC Milan secured a much needed three points following a disappointing start to the domestic season with a 3-0 victory against
Palermo at the San Siro.
Former Palermo star Antonio Nocerino broke the deadlock five minutes before the break, slotting home after good work from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And the Swede was at his brilliant best ten minutes into the second half as his delightful reverse pass set up Robinho who finished expertly.
The hosts added a third just after the hour mark, when Ignazio Abate's excellent run was finished off by striker Antonio Cassano for a well deserved goal much to the delight of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
