Morecambe boss Jim Bentley admitted even he was shocked to see Macclesfield score after just seven seconds in the 1-1 draw.
Danny Carlton's goal salvaged a point for the Shrimps but Bentley conceded that he had never seen anything like Ben Tomlinson's very early goal.
He said: "I'd just put some papers down in the box, looked around and saw him hit the ball from 25 yards.
"I've certainly never seen anything like that before but that's why we all love football, you've just got to hand it to the lad.
"Macclesfield's a very tough place to come to. They always come hard at you and I warned the players about that but then they score after seven seconds.
"But I thought we looked dangerous in periods in the second half and I might be being a bit greedy but Danny Carlton could have snatched a win at the death."
