Jay Rodriguez and Mark Noble were not included in Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad – but do they think they can figure in the future?
The Southampton striker and West Ham midfielder may answer that question this weekend when they join Ben Shephard and Chris Kamara for Goals on Sunday.
Saints star Rodriguez looked in contention to board England’s plane to Brazil this summer until he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in April.
The 25-year-old, who has not played since, should reflect on his World Cup heartache with Ben and Kammy as well as reveal when he should be fit - and just how much he is itching to get back into the international fold.
Rodriguez collected his one England cap to date in a friendly with Chile at Wembley last November, but Hammer Noble is yet to receive full honours, despite playing 20 times for his country’s under-21 side.
The East Londoner might reveal whether he thinks he has been hard done by in that regard and if he thinks he is the man to fill the gap left by Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard’s international retirements.
Jay and Mark will also look ahead to the Three Lions’ upcoming European Qualifier campaign, as well as at the form of their clubs – who meet at Upton Park on Saturday.
Our guests will look at the goals, gaffes and incidents from West Ham-Southampton and at the action from Saturday’s seven other Premier League matches, including Everton v Chelsea and Burnley v Man United.
With Championship and Scottish goals, too, it’s a show not to be missed.
Watch Goals on Sunday, from 10.30am on Sky Sports 1.
