Midfielder flattered to be linked with Premier League move

Javi Marquez insists he is happy at Espanyol amid reports he is being tracked by two Premier League clubs. The midfielder has been one of the surprise performers in La Liga this season after missing the end of the last campaign with a broken leg. Marquez has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic, with speculation claiming the two sides are weighing up 5million euros (£4.3m) bids in January. Espanyol are understood to want at least 6.5m euros (£5.6m) before considering a sale, with the club's financial problems potentially paving the way for Marquez's departure. However, while Marquez is flattered to have been linked with a move to England, he stressed his priority is to stay with Espanyol. "I am happy at Espanyol, but I am pleased by this news because today the Premier League is, with Spain, the best in the world," Marquez told the Spanish media. "But I insist that my first option is to continue with Espanyol."
