Hearts striker attracting attention from First Division outfit

Ayr United chairman Lachlan Cameron insists Ryan Stevenson will not be paid more than other players if they land him. Stevenson is out of contract with Hearts in the summer but the First Division club are hopeful they can put together a package to snare him, due to their cash injection from billionaire sponsor Calvin Ayre. There had been concerns the Jambos star would demand big wages to drop down a division but Cameron has allayed those fears, and will try and sign another marquee name if his Stevenson attempt fails. "We haven't signed anybody yet but it will be great news when we do," he told the Daily Record.

Bankrupt

"We will make sure it's in our budget and we don't want to disrupt the fantastic squad we have. "We are not going to bring in anybody who will bankrupt the club or upset the balance of the squad. "We are not going to sign anyone on more money than the rest of the players. Wages are the most important issue for a number of guys so we are well aware of that. "A player good enough for the SPL is the type we are looking to bring in but we are not going to get ourselves in trouble. We are a First Division club so pay accordingly."
