Midfielder moves to Sixfields

Abdul Osman has signed for League One side Northampton on a two-year contract. The midfielder was released by cash-strapped Gretna at the end of last season as the SPL club finally succumbed to the inevitable and were forced to withdraw their place in the Scottish League. The 21-year-old had been in talks over a possible move to Kilmarnock, but with that deal falling through the Cobblers have moved quickly to snap him up. Stuart Gray is delighted to have lured Osman to Sixfields and expects him to be a key member of his squad next season.

Financial

"I think he will prove to be another good addition to our squad," said Gray. "We had him here training with us for a few days at the end of last season and that gave us a good chance to have a look at him. "I think he had the chance to join a number of clubs and undoubtedly Kilmarnock offered him a better deal - but the pleasing thing is that he is not coming here for financial reasons. "Every player signing is subject to a medical but that has gone through fine and I'm delighted to have him here."
