Newport have completed the signing of Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Day on a four-week loan deal.

The 24-year-old, who will be available to face Portsmouth subject to international clearance, looks set to be the first choice keeper at Rodney Parade in place of Lenny Pidgeley. "There's always an opportunity to make it longer if Joe feels it's right for him and if it's right for the football club," boss Justin Edinburgh, who handed Day his senior debut at Rushden and Diamonds, told the BBC. "Joe's here to play and to push Lenny. Lenny's position now is to try and force his way back into the team, it's as simple as that."
