Benyon relishing Howe link-up

Elliot Benyon is relishing the chance to play alongside Rene Howe as Torquay's top scorer prepares to return at Rochdale.

Benyon, who returned for a second spell at Plainmoor on loan from Southend, played for 45 minutes in the 3-1 defeat against Rotherham on Tuesday. And the Gulls' striking options will be boosted by the return of Howe, who has scored 14 times this season, after he served a two-match ban for 10 yellow cards. "I am looking forward to playing with him definitely," Benyon said. "Rene is a good player, he has proved that with his goals this season and his hold up play. He will be a great player to work with." Benyon's second-half run out against the Millers was his first league appearance since mid-January and he believes that game time will benefit him as he looks to return to full fitness. "It was definitely good to get 45 minutes under my belt," he said. "I haven't played much football this year so I'm sure the more I play the fitter I'll get and the sharper I'll get. "Coming back has gone well. I'm glad to be back involved at Torquay so roll on Saturday." Torquay head to Spotland having won just once since December 1, a run which has seen them slip to within seven points of the League Two relegation zone.
