Ling delighted after Gulls win

Torquay boss Martin Ling is delighted after his side ended their eight-match winless streak with a 4-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon.

Rene Howe bagged two for the Gulls and Danny Stevens and Eunan O'Kane were also on target in Tuesday night's League Two encounter, as the hosts made light work of Terry Brown's visitors. Wimbledon manager Brown had to miss his team's trip to Plainmoor because of a family illness, and the news from the English Riviera will not have cheered him up. But for Ling it was an entirely different story. "It's been a long time coming," he said. "The longer you go without a win, the harder they are to get, so tonight could be a turning-point for us. "We played particularly well. We have been waiting for a big performance like that for a while, and tonight our big players came to the fore. "Four-nil may be harsh on them, but we'll take it. This result has been a release valve for everyone, and I hope we can move on from here."
