Walsall have confirmed they have agreed a compensation package with Sheffield United for defender Darryl Westlake.

Westlake, who signed a two-year deal with the option of a third year at Bramall Lane last week, came through the youth ranks at Walsall. He was offered new terms at the end of last season but rejected the offer, leaving him free to speak to other clubs. "Following the recent approach by Sheffield United, after negotiation, we have accepted what we feel is a good offer for Darryl that includes several performance-based contingent sums triggered by future achievements," Walsall chief executive Stefan Gamble told his club's official website. "We would like to wish Darryl all the best in his future career."
