Brewers lose Kee for the season

Billy Kee's latest injury setback has brought a premature end to the Burton Albion striker's season.

A groin problem has plagued Kee since November and the summer signing from Torquay is likely to require an operation after breaking down for the fourth time in as many months against Cheltenham last Saturday. "Basically, the tendon has detached from the bone so there is no way Billy will play again this season," said Burton boss Paul Peschisolido. "Our priority now is to make sure that the injury is sorted as quickly as possible so he will be ready for pre-season in July. "There is a less invasive option and we will be guided by what the surgeon has to say but I am pretty sure that an operation will be the outcome, it looks 99% certain. "It is a big blow because Billy was on fire in the first half of the season and is obviously going to be a massive loss." Northern Ireland Under-21 international Kee has scored 12 goals in 24 appearances for Burton this season.
