Defender extends contract until 2010

Stockport County have rewarded Michael Raynes with a contract extension at Edgeley Park. Raynes has started 12 games in League Two this season and has come through the ranks with the Hatters. The defender has agreed a contract until 2010 and Stockport boss Jim Gannon is delighted to secure the 20-year-old's future. "Michael is a fantastic person and a fantastic defender," Gannon told the club's official website. "I had no qualms about making him captain against Grimsby and I'm disappointed for him that he didn't lead the team to victory. "We have been negotiating with Michael for quite a while now and I'm delighted to announce that he signed his contract until 2010."
