Full steam ahead

Arsenal's Alex Scott reflects on FA Cup progress and says the season is just getting into full swing.

Since my last blog, it's been full steam ahead. It all started nicely when we managed to beat Liverpool at Anfield 2-1 and progress to the Women's FA Cup final. The last time I played in the FA Cup final was four years ago before I went off to play professionally in America. The FA Cup has always been a showpiece for the women's game in this country. It's live on TV, it's played on a bank holiday weekend, you normally attract a big crowd and normally there is some sunshine thrown in as well. What more can you ask for? We are going to be playing Bristol in the final, which will be a first for the FA Cup. Even though they lost Jess Fishlock who was a nominee for women's PFA player of the year, they have still strengthened their team by bringing in another Spanish player, Natalia, who has hit the ground running and taken the WSL by storm so far. She seems to be linking up quite nicely with Bristol's other Spanish player, Del Rio. These two are definitely players we will have to keep an eye on In the final.

Great event

The PFAs was also a great event that I got to attend. Kim Little was named PFA women's player of the year. Kim is a massive talent in the women's game. She is still so young and has still so much to achieve it's frightening to think what level she can get to. I'm sure if there was a young player award like the men, she would also be in the running for that. Like Gareth Bale she could have walked away with both awards on the night I'm sure. One thing's for sure it was nice to get all glammed up for the evening. Just because I love playing football does not mean I like to live in a tracksuit all the time. I like to get dressed up and be girlie too. Well I should say I try to be, ha. Well now that you know that I like to be girlie as well as being all hard on the pitch, another thing about me is that I'm a massive music lover and like to see acts live when I can. So I was a very happy girl that I managed to see both Beyonce and Pink live at the O2 last week. I have got to say Beyonce was amazing!! Beyonce's music is played quite a lot in the changing room at Arsenal and on trips at England. So it was good to hear her sing live instead of a team full of girls trying to sing and dance like Beyonce, ha.
Record-breaking
Looking forward it's all football, football and more football at the moment. We have lots of games coming up. Two games a week for the next month. While the men's season is coming to a very exciting end, our season is really just getting into the swing of things! We play Liverpool at the Emirates tonight, 7:30 kick-off, with tickets available on the door, so if you are free come down and cheer us on. We are hoping to get a record-breaking WSL crowd. Hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. The weather has been lovely and it's definitely time that I try to sort my garden out. Seems like every year I try the DIY version of gardening and I'm having no luck! I think I should know when it's time to call in the professionals and that time is now, lol. Have a great week
