Carlisle manager Greg Abbott has assured Paddy Madden and Rory Loy they will get their first-team chance next season.
Abbott has made no secret of his determination to sign a striker this summer, but the United manager insists that does not mean January arrivals Madden and Loy will be denied an opportunity to shine. They will have to fight their way past Craig Curran, Francois Zoko and any new acquisitions for a place in Carlisle's attack, but Abbott insists the promising duo will not be left behind at Brunton Park. "We have got to give them their bow next year," Abbott told the News & Star. "They are both desperate to do well and if we can just get one who is a bit more experienced, to buffer them a little bit, it will be good for them." Loy has managed one goal in 19 appearances - mostly from the bench - since his move from Rangers while former Bohemians striker Madden is still waiting for his first strike after 13 outings, one of which came from the start. Abbott added: "Paddy has lots to learn but in pre-season we will work with him and get more of that game understanding into him. He is an honest lad and we think he can do well for us."
