De Girolamo may make York return

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has hinted striker Diego De Girolamo could return to York on loan after the next two games.

The 19-year-old has just been recalled from a temporary spell at Bootham Crescent, where he scored three goals in four games for the struggling Minstermen, to provide an option to Clough ahead of cup games with Crewe and Walsall. But with the Blades boss trying to strengthen his attacking options in the transfer market he is open to sending De Girolamo back out on loan, with York the likely option. "We see him getting some more experience, providing we get some more players in," Clough said. "But for the next week or so he will stay with us and we might play him in the next couple of games. "He has got three in four in a team that has been struggling, that is why we sent him out to get some goals and confidence. "To send him back to York would be the most sensible thing."
