Port Vale chief to tie up deals

Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite is hoping to complete permanent deals for loanees Achille Campion and Reiss Greenidge in January.

Neither Norrby IF striker Campion, 23, nor 18-year-old West Brom defender Greenidge have made a first-team appearance for the League One club this season, having been signed for the development squad with the long-term in mind. Answering supporters' questions on a fan forum, onevalefan.co.uk, Smurthwaite said: "I have bought in the current loanees and players since [manager] Micky [Adams] left. "The costs represent about 10 per cent to an average player's wage. "I am paying for them and not affecting budget as that was used up at start of season. "Some of loanees such as Reiss, Campion will be signed in January then loaned out. Equally, two of the three players signed next week will be loaned out. All players signed until June 16."
