Kennedy back at Bury

Tom Kennedy is back at Bury after signing a loan deal from Rochdale with a view to a permanent switch.

The 29-year-old full-back began his career at the JD Stadium and made over 150 appearances for the Shakers before seeking pastures new. He joined Dale in 2007 and, after spells with Leicester, Peterborough and Barnsley, he wound up at Spotland again at the start of this summer. Bury boss David Flitcroft worked with Kennedy at Oakwell and is counting on his experience after three successive away defeats - including Tuesday's 5-0 drubbing at Shrewsbury. "TK brings a leadership quality and a quality in terms of some of the best passing this league will see," said Flitcroft. "He will defend that left-back slot. He's a character that, at times away from home, we have been missing and he adds value to the squad. "He's the ultimate professional and is desperate to play. He's a fantastic signing for us and, as a left-sided player; he will balance the squad out and add competition for places." Kennedy has joined the Sky Bet League Two high-fliers until January 14.
